The first of its kind in England, the non-medical facility will be a base for Teens Unite to upscale the activities and residential stays we currently provide for teenagers and young adults living with, and beyond, cancer.
Young people aged 13-24, from across the UK, will visit for short breaks with others their age in a similar situation, and take part in a range of tailored activities.
But the bricks and mortar will go far beyond that.
The communal areas will be a safe and supportive space for teenagers and young adults to spend time with others their age who really understand what they are going through. They will find friendship, a sense of belonging and strength in each other.
The short-term accommodation will be the start of regaining their independence, as they take their first steps in staying away from home.
The dedicated activity space will provide opportunities to learn new skills, rebuild their confidence, discover their strengths, challenge themselves, and pursue their ambitions.
The beautifully landscaped gardens will be a space to reflect on what they have been through, and consider the life that awaits.
It will become a place of equal opportunity, and the start of teenagers and young adults rebuilding their lives.
